Stepping through the world can sometimes be confusing and full of inner turmoil. I have seen young people often drawn towards gazing into a void, a silent, magnetic space that promises escape from pain and harsh realities.
I created Precipice originally in porcelain for its delicate fragile qualities. When placed on the edge of a tall plinth it held a tension hinting at potential tragedy.
The piece was recreated as a short run resin cast and painted. It was also recreated at a larger scale in cement clay.
The pieces were painted with words that describe attempts to rationalise confusing thoughts and feelings. Or landscapes that encapsulate escape from the sharp edges of the world.
